Box Score The Dragons (0-1) opened the 2024 season with a trip to North Carolina to face Barton College on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 21-6 defeat.
The Bulldogs were dominant offensively, peppering Tiffin's goal with 41 total shots compared to the 17 of TU.
Barton took a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter with the only goal for the Dragons coming from
Brenna Bohan, scoring her first collegiate goal. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 7-1 before back-to-back goals from
Hannah Kaplan and
Jessa Zaheri pulled TU back to within four at 7-3.
Tiffin trailed 10-4 at the break and the second half was all Bulldogs as they outscored the Dragons 7-1 in the third quarter and 4-1 in the fourth.
All six goals from TU came from different goal scorers as
Guinevere Salas,
Lillian Graham, and
Cassidy Kumiega all tallied goals as well. Graham also led the team in ground balls with six followed by
Sarah Grover with four.
Sydney Dean posted team-high three caused turnovers.
Jenay Rennie spent the majority of the game in the cage for the Dragons, tallying 10 saves while freshman
Sadie Wermuth recorded the first save of her career.
The Dragons will stay in North Carolina as they now travel over to Lees-McRae for a contest against the Bobcats on Monday, February 19 at noon.
