Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Dragons knock out Oilers in semifinals to advance to G-MAC Championship game

The Tiffin University women's lacrosse team (11-6) has earned a trip to the G-MAC Championship game following a 14-8 victory over Findlay in the semifinals.

The win over the Oilers this afternoon avenged a regular season loss to Findlay in the second to last game of the season.

The Dragons will play top-seeded Ashland on Saturday at 2pm in the championship game, and the winner will earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. On April 2, the Dragons lost at Ashland 20-6.

Tiffin never trailed in the game and the Dragons outscored the Oilers 7-2 in the second quarter to take a commanding 9-3 lead into halftime.

TU scored twice in the first 1:03 of the game and needed just 23 seconds to score the first goal. Isabelle Vranjes scored off an assist from Dana Shehadeh and Lillian Graham scored the second goal and Tiffin led 2-1 after one.

In the second, Lauren Walsh started a four-goal spurt which snapped over a 15-minute scoreless drought. TU expanded their lead scoring three in the final five minutes of the first half.

The second quarter difference was critical as both teams scored two in the third and three in the fourth. The Dragons never surrendered momentum, and Findlay did cut the deficit to five with 11:38 remaining but Katelyn Jarvis responded with back-to-back goals to make it 13-6 with 7:26 left.

A trio of Dragons scored three goals – Kenna Wigginton, Vranjes, and Jarvis. Graham scored two while Aryanna Rykard, Walsh, and Shehadeh each scored one. Walsh recorded four assists which gives her 100 points this season (48 goals, 55 assists). Jarvis also reached a career milestone as her third goal was the 100th of her career.

Sarah Hart got the win in goal, recording 10 saves over 60 minutes.

The Dragons held a narrow margin in shots (33-32) and also edged the Oilers in ground balls 17-15. Tiffin won 16 of 25 draw controls.
