Box Score 2 Tiffin University (11-15) got strong performances from Claire Feldkamp and Sarah Klein but fell short to Northwood, falling 5-1 and 1-0 in 9 innings.
Feldkamp went the full 9 innings, allowing just one earned run with 9 strikeouts, 7 hits, and only one walk, but it wasn't enough in the nightcap.
The Dragons mustered five singles in the game, including two from Taylor Whalen. The Dragons had numerous chances late in the game but could not scratch across a run.
In the fifth, TU got runners on second and third with two outs but a soft liner to left field ended the threat. In the sixth, TU got a runner on second base with one out but two infield flies ended TU's last serious chance.
In the opener, TU's Shelbey Spurlock had a rough start, lasting just one inning and allowing 3 earned runs. Sarah Klein entered in relief and was strong, going 6 innings and allowing just one earned run with 6 strikeouts and 5 hits.
Overall TU mustered just three singles. Trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning, Taylor Whalen walked. Maddie Woods then followed with a single. With one out, Maddie Legg singled to load the bases. Kirsten Georges's groundout to shortstop got the run home to make it 4-1. Maci Head followed with a walk to load the bases again, but a strikeout ended the inning.
TU had a couple other chances. In the fifth, the Dragons had runners on second and third with two outs but a strikeout ended TU's final threat of the game.
