Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Tiffin University (0-2) dropped its first two games of the 2022 season, falling to Southern Indiana 13-5 in 5 innings and 7-3 to Rockhurst at Smyrna, Tennessee.

In the opener against USI, the Dragons opened scoring with a run in the first inning. After Maci Head walked, Kaylee Savage drove in her first run of the game with a double.

The Dragons were undone over the next two innings, however, as USI tallied 5 runs in the second and 7 runs in the third to take a big 12-1 lead.

Tiffin narrowed the score in the third with three more runs. Savage hit a home run to open the scoring. Aubrie Harper then singled and Hallie Sheehan reached on an error at second base. Caitlin Wilson then drove them both home with a double to make the score 12-4.

Tiffin got its final run in the 5th inning. After a Harper single, Sheehan and Wilson walked to load the bases. Alyssa Gettys then brought the run home with a sacrifice fly.

Claire Feldkamp took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing 7 earned runs on 9 hits. Shelbey Spurlock (0.2 innings) and Libby Schaadt (2 innings) combined to allow 4 earned runs.

Savage finished with 3 hits with a double and home run, while Wilson had 2 hits with a double for 2 RBI. Harper also had 2 hits.

In game two against Rockhurst, the Dragons again opened strong offensively with three runs in the first inning. Taylor Whalen and Maddie Woods singled, and Maci Head drove them home with a triple. Katie Deardorff then brought Head across the plate with a sac fly.

Rockhurst chipped away at the lead against starter Sarah Klein, getting one in the third and 4 more in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. They tacked on two additional runs in the 6th inning.

The Dragons struggled to get baserunners after the first inning, placing just one runner in scoring position over the final six innings.

Klein took the loss, going 3.1 innings and allowing 4 earned runs with 6 walks and 5 strikeouts. Feldkamp finished up with 3.2 innings, fanning 8 while allowing 2 earned runs.

Whalen finished with 4 hits, while Head had 2 RBI with a triple.
