TIFFIN, Ohio - Freshman Gina Abulone scored six goals as the Tiffin University women's lacrosse team (5-10, 3-3 GLIAC) fell 16-15 in overtime to Lake Erie (7-7, 4-1 GLIAC).
For most of the game, Tiffin was behind Lake Erie on the scoreboard. Down 5-2 with 13:21 to go in the first half, the Dragons got goals from Abulone and sophomore Emily Roussel.
That made it 5-4 at the 10:07 mark. The Storm scored four goals in a row to lead by five and would be up, 10-6 at halftime.
With five minutes to go, TU was down 15-11 and things looked bleak. Tiffin picked up goals from Abulone, junior Alexis MacMillan and Roussel to trail 15-14 with 1:06 to go.
With 28 seconds left, freshman Morgan Sherley picked up a ground ball and the Dragons went on the attack. Abulone found Roussel in front of the net and she scored with four seconds left to send the game into overtime. Lake Erie would score and held on for the win.
For Tiffin, Abulone would add three assists and finish with nine points while Roussel had four goals and won seven draws. Freshman Tori Nelson had three goals and Sherley had four ground balls. Junior Jessica Bombard had 16 saves.
