TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Joe Graessle had 27 points as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (5-4, 1-3 GLIAC) lost 84-81 to Ferris State (4-3, 4-0 GLIAC), Tuesday night at the Gillmor Center.
Tiffin came out of the gates firing on all cylinders. Graessle hit a jumper at the 11:52 mark. That gave the Dragons an 18-10 lead.
TU still had a seven point lead, 24-17 with 7:47 to go before Ferris State turned on the jets. Over the next six minutes, the Bulldogs outscored Tiffin 21-6 to lead 38-30 with 1:01 to go.
In the second half, the lead went back and forth. Sophomore Khaleal McCormick hit a jumper and made the free throw to tie the game at 60-60 with 9:44 to go.
FSU led by eight, 79-71 with 56 seconds left before the Dragons made a run. Junior Ashton Khan drained a triple to close to four, 83-79 with four seconds left. Ferris State hit a free throw to seal the game.
For Tiffin, McCormick had 17 points and two steals while senior Mike Boan scored 15 points. Graessle had four steals and blocked three shots and sophomore Jonathan Sutherlin had eight rebounds.
For Ferris State, Jared Stolicker had 18 points and Matt Poches had 13 points, eight assists and three steals.
Tiffin is off until Thursday, Jan. 2, when they play Northern Michigan. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Live stats will be available at http://livestats.prestosports.com/northernmichigan/
