Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Northwood’s three-point shooting sinks Dragons 89-63

The Tiffin University men's basketball team (6-20, 2-17 G-MAC) dropped an 89-63 decision at Northwood Thursday night in the penultimate game of the season.

The Dragons were at a massive disadvantage from beyond the arc. Northwood made 10 three-pointers while Tiffin only made one. The Timberwolves also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Dragons 48-26.

Back-to-back baskets by Caleb Bates put the Dragons on top two minutes in for TU's only lead of the game. Noah Smith tied it at 14 at the 14-minute mark until the Timberwolves went on a 9-0 run to take the lead back. Northwood would control the game from there, and Tiffin trailed 41-30 at halftime.

The Dragons started the second half on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to four, but three straight baskets by Northwood allowed the Timberwolves to reclaim their double-digit lead.

The Dragons got back within seven at the 12:35 mark following a dunk by Nesmith and Northwood responded with 13 unanswered to take a 20-point lead. Northwood expanded their lead to a game-high 31 with 2:15 left.

Bates led the way offensively with 18 points and Jonah Nesmith added 13 points. D'monyae Davis and Noah Smith both finished with 10 points and KJ Pruitt corralled seven rebounds.
