Tiffin University entered Tuesday's game on a three-game winning streak, but a patient and disciplined attack by Edinboro proved too much to overcome as TU fell 15-10 in a close game at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
Tiffin opened strong, scoring three unanswered goals to start the game. But Edinboro quickly regrouped and controlled the tempo for the rest of the half, outscoring TU 8-3 over the final 23 minutes of the half to take a 8-6 lead into the half.
Two more goals to start the second half put Edinboro up 10-6 but the Dragons answered with three straight goals of their own to pull to within 10-9 with 16:12 remaining in the game.
The Fighting Scots, however, continued to show patience on offense, committing only 9 total turnovers in the game while outshooting TU 34-30 in overall shots. They also controlled the ground balls 23-17 and used up the clock efficiently while holding their lead.
After TU had cut to within one goal, Edinboro turned up their offensive attack another notch, scoring 5 unanswered goals to put the game away.
While TU controlled the draw controls 17-9 and also had one of their best games of the season with just 12 turnovers, Edinboro shut down the nation's 10th-ranked offense, holding TU to 6 goals less than their game average on the scoreboard.
Alexandria Quast had another strong game with 7 goals and an assist, but TU's other goal scorers had trouble scoring. Taylor DeMaio totaled 2 goals while also winning 11 draws and getting 4 ground balls, but the only other scorer was Melissa Cooper with 1 goal and 3 assists. Madeline Kane made 15 saves in goal in taking the loss.
TU now travels to Notre Dame for a 7 pm contest on April 14.
