TIFFIN, Ohio - Despite a school record 13 blocked shots, the Tiffin University men's basketball team (4-3, 0-1 GLIAC) lost 81-64 to Ferris State (3-3, 1-0 GLIAC), Thursday night at the Gillmor Center.
In the first half, the team battled back and forth for the first eight minutes. Freshman Michael Bouley hit a pair of free throws and senior Karl Finley nailed a triple. That made it 17-13, Tiffin with 11:46 to go.
Over the rest of the half, the score was tied eight times and no one had a lead of more than four points. With 1:06 to go, Bouley scored in traffic to put the Dragons up 37-35. Ferris State got a bucket by Dontae Molden with 37 seconds left to end the half at 37-37.
In the second half, Finley was knocked to the floor at midcourt diving for the ball. He would get up and slam the ball home. That put TU up 39-37 with 19:22 to go. Over the next seven minutes, the Bulldogs went on a 17-3 run that effectively ended the game.
For Tiffin, Finley had 27 points, blocked two shots, hit three 3-pointers and was 10-of-17 from the floor while sophomore Joe Graessle scored 14 points. Tiffin set the school record for blocked shots with senior Brandon Harris blocking five and Bouley and freshman Iman Johnson getting three each.
For Ferris State, Molden had 19 points, Jerrell Sanders had 18 points and five assists and Daniel Sutherlin had 16 points and 14 rebounds.
