Annesley Day secured a spot at the NCAA National Championships with a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Region IV Championships.
Day (124 pounds) fell in her semifinal contest to Grand Valley State by fall in 1:21 but bounced back to win her final two matches. She defeated Mount Union 10-0 and then landed the NCAA berth with a dramatic 7-4 decision. Day trailed 4-2 with 1:00 remaining in the bout before storming back for the victory.
Sophia Antonio (138) finished 4th. She fell in the semis 10-0 to Grand Valley State but then bounced back to beat John Carroll by fall in 2:12. With a trip the NCAA Tournament on the line, Antonio fell 11-0 to Aurora.
Erin Martin (5th) won her consolation opener on day two over Manchester 8-7 but then fell to Northern Michigan 11-0. She landed 5th place with a medical forfeit win over Albion.
Jenavi Alejandro (110) had a tough day, falling in her semifinal match to North Central by injury at 5:59. The injury did not allow her to compete in her remaining matches, as she finished 6th overall.
