Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Tiffin University women's soccer team scored twice in the first half to earn a 2-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday night in conference action. With the win, Tiffin improves to 5-6-2 overall and 3-5-1 in G-MAC play.
The Dragons started fast and struck first in the 12th minute when Callie Cacchione connected on her sixth goal of the season with Maddie Davis providing the assist. Cacchione added another shot on goal in the 16th minute before Daphine Nalubowa added an unassisted goal in the 18th minute to make it 2-0.
Despite generating more scoring chances throughout, the Dragons walked away with only two goals in the evening, while the defense held an opponent scoreless for just the second time this season. Davis, Cacchione, and Amanda Feury all had shots saved in the final five minutes.
Sam McPhee went the distance in goal and recorded four saves to earn the win while defenders Taylor Iden and Willow Toft also played all 90 minutes to help keep the Panthers off the board.
Tiffin outshot the Panthers 20-13 and recorded 13 shots on goal to KWC's five. TU also generated seven corner kicks while the Panthers attempted three.
The Dragons finish their two-game road swing at Cedarville on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
