Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dragons Come Up Short at Findlay, Fall 1-0

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's soccer team (6-8-3, 4-7-2 G-MAC) dropped a hard-fought 1-0 contest to Findlay (12-2-3, 9-1-3) on Saturday afternoon at DeHaven Field.

The Oilers found success early, sneaking one past Tiffin goalkeeper Sam McPhee in the 13th minute to make it 1-0 for the only goal of the game. The Dragons had an opportunity to tie it late in the first half as Daphine Nalubowa stepped up for a penalty kick in the 41st minute, but her shot was saved by Findlay's goalkeeper Cat Graves. That marked the second time this season that Graves saved a Nalubowa PK as Nalubowa was also unsuccessful in the first meeting on September 24.

Tiffin's defense was strong the rest of the way to prevent the Oilers from adding on, but the offense was unable to push any goals across on Graves, the fifth-year keeper for the Oilers.

Tiffin generated scoring opportunities early and late in the second half. In the 48th minute, Callie Cacchione had a shot saved while Makenna Dreyer and Mackenzie Borden added shots on goal in the 73rd and 75th minutes, respectively, but both were saved. TU was held without a shot attempt for the final 15+ minutes.

The Oilers finished with a 12-6 advantage in shots and 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Findlay also earned seven corner kicks while Tiffin generated just one corner kick chance.

McPhee went the distance in goal and recorded four saves.

Tiffin closes out its season on Tuesday night (Oct. 27) on the road at Ohio Dominican at 5 p.m. A Tiffin victory combined with a Walsh loss on Tuesday would give the Dragons the No. 6 seed in the G-MAC Tournament.
