Troy Merriman has been named Head Baseball Coach at Tiffin University.
Merriman previously served as Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of Findlay from 2018-2024, helping lead the Oilers to one of their best seasons in 2023. The Oilers finished the season third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament, falling in the consolation final after winning three consecutive elimination games. Findlay's 32 wins in 2023 is the best in Findlay's Division II era.Â
A four-year starter for the Oilers from 2015-18, Merriman played in 158 games in his career and finished with 105 hits. He scored 47 runs and drove in 45 RBI as Findlay's everyday third baseman.
Merriman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Findlay in Middle Childhood Education. He resides in Findlay along with his wife Hannah and son, Tate.Â
"Troy brings with him a wealth of experience, success, and a passionate commitment to student athlete development both on and off the field," said Athletic Director
Kelly Daniel. "He will continue to build on our strong foundation, inspire our student athletes, and elevate our competitiveness at the Division II level. We are confident that Troy will make an immediate and lasting impact, and we are excited for what the future holds under his leadership. Dragon Nation is fired up and ready to welcome Troy and his family!"
"I'm incredibly honored to be named the next Head Coach of the Tiffin University Baseball Program," said Merriman. "This opportunity is truly a dream come true, and I'm excited to lead a program with such a strong tradition and bright future. I want to extend my deepest thanks to
Kelly Daniel, Dr. Schumacher, Amy Wood and the entire hiring committee for their confidence in me. Their commitment to the student-athlete experience at TU was evident throughout this process and excites me tremendously. I am excited for this incredible opportunity to work with our players, staff, and the Tiffin community as we continue to build a culture of excellence—on the field, in the classroom, and in the lives we impact every day. My family and I cannot wait to be a part of Dragon Nation! Go Gons!"
