Box Score 2 Tiffin University (15-13) took on Findlay in a G-MAC twinbill, with the two teams splitting.Â
In the opener, Tiffin won 10-2 in six innings. The Dragons scored in all but the fifth inning and put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first,
Maddie Woods walked and
Jules King was hit by a pitch.
Maci Head loaded the bases with a single. A sacrifice fly by
Baylee Mirgon got one run home, and a two-out single by
Aubrie Harper made it 2-1, Tiffin.
In the second, TU tallied three runs.
Maya Miles reached on an error at shortstop.
Lydia Kobie then walked, and Miles scored on a subsequent error at short on a fielder's choice. Kobie then stole home on a double steal, and Head singled home
Reagan Mengerink after she drilled a double.
Another run scored when Miles blasted a home run in the third inning.
In the fourth, Woods doubled and moved to third on King's single. Mengerink then brought her home with a sacrifice fly.
TU ended it in the sixth. Woods singled and stole second. King then doubled in one run. Mengerink singled to put two on, and King scored on Head's sacrifice fly. With two outs, an error at short on
Molly Koesters's grounder allowed TU to score and end the game.
Claire Feldkamp got the win, going 6 innings and allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits with 6 strikeouts.
Woods, King, Mengerink, and Head all had 2 hits each, with Woods, King, and Mengerink getting doubles.
In the nightcap, Tiffin fell in a narrow battle 3-2.Â
Tiffin jumped out to a 2-0 lead to start the game. In the first inning, Woods doubled to right center and moved to third on a groundout. Mengerink then brought her home with a sacrifice fly.
In the second, Harper tripled to right field.
Iris Pierson then brought her home with a single to make it 2-0.
Findlay picked up one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to lead 3-2.Â
Tiffin put together a rally in the seventh to extend the game. Pierson singled with one out. With two outs, Woods singled to put a runner in scoring position. A strikeout in the final at-bat ended the game.
Jules King took the tough loss, giving up 3 earned runs over 5 innings. Feldkamp finished the game, allowing no hits over 2 innings.
