Dragons Drop Two against Trevecca Nazarene 16-8, 14-7

The Tiffin University Dragons baseball team dropped two against the Trojans 16-8 and 14-7.  

The Trojans improve to 17-7 overall and 12-2 in the conference, while the Dragons fall to 17-10 overall and 12-8 in the conference. 

Game One:

The Trojans started strong as Goolsby singled to right field, scoring Odom to lead 1-0. Tiffin responded in the next inning with a home run from Kyle Vance to tie the game at 1-1.

Trevecca scored one run in the second to lead 2-1 and rallied in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs to lead 10-1. Tiffin countered in the fifth with four runs starting with a triple from Tommy Thamann to start off the inning. With a runner at third Jake Shier singled to center field to score Thamann. Danny Donnelly singled through the left side to advance Shier to second. Griffin Stevens hit the second home run of the game for Tiffin to score the two runners to cut the host lead to 10-5.

The Trojans added four more runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to lead 16-5. The Dragons scored three in the seventh but it was not enough as Trevecca took game one 16-8.

Griffin Stevens went 1-for-4 with a home run, recording one run, and three RBI, and Tommy Thamann went 2-for-4, scored one run, and had two RBI. 

Game Two:

Tiffin struggled to match Trevecca's offense in the second game as they got out to an early lead in the first as Tim Orr singled through the right side to score Stevens from third, then the host scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. 

The Trojans added on more runs in the second to make it a 3-1 game, then the Dragons tied the game at 3 all in the third. Nich Green came to the plate with runners on the corners and reached on an error by the right fielder to score both runners Zach Campbell and Stevens.

Trevecca rallied in the bottom of the third, scoring eight runs on five hits to lead 11-3.

The Dragons outscored Trevecca 4-2 in the last three innings but were unable to close the gap as the Trojans sealed the 14-7 win.
