Dragons complete four-game sweep of Battlers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Tiffin University (12-11) did little wrong in its four-game sweep of Alderson Broaddus, picking up two more wins 6-4 and 7-1 to complete their 6-0 week.

The Dragons had their toughest fight in the opener. Tiffin tallied three runs heading to the final inning. In the first, Jamie Sevenish singled, was sacrificed to second and then stole third. She then scored on Lindsay Graves's sacrifice fly.

In the third, Sevenish and Alayna Lytle both singled. Brooke Lambert singled home one run, and Gabrielle Hess got another run across with a sac fly.

Leading 3-1 in the 7th, TU broke the game open. Libby Crow walked followed by singles from Sevenish and Lytle. Hess then continued her awesome week, stroking a double for 2 RBI. Graves then got another run home with a ground out to second.

Ahead 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Battlers made a run. With the bases loaded and two outs, back to back singles drove home three runs to make it 6-4. Another single loaded the bases, but Tiffany Snell got out of the jam with a pop up to third base.

Snell got the win, going the distance and allowing 5 hits and 4 earned runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Hess had 3 RBI with a double while Sevenish and Lytle had 2 hits apiece.

In the nightcap, TU got solid hitting and standout pitching from Kimmy Reynolds. She pitched 6 innings and allowed just 3 hits with 10 strikeouts and 1 earned run. Faith Bogard finished the game with 1 shutout inning.

TU again scored in the first to keep the pressure on the Battlers. Lytle singled, Lambert walked, and Hess drove home two more runs with a double.

In the fourth, Abbey Zedaker and April Bennett both singled. Ally Rock then got an RBI with a single, and Crow followed with 2 RBI with another single as TU led 5-0.

The Dragons finished their scoring in the fifth inning. Hess opened with a triple. Sierra Besser-Paul walked and stole second. Zedaker then singled home one run, and Besser-Paul came home shortly thereafter on an error by the catcher.
