Dragons Shutout Wildcats

Box Score

The Tiffin University women's soccer team took care of business on Friday, defeating the Northern Michigan Wildcats 2-0 in Marquette, Michigan. The Dragons move to 4-8-1 overall and 3-3 in GLIAC play.

The Dragons were on the prowl early in the 1st half, firing shots and finally breaking through in the 22nd minute. Tiffin's Adrianna Currie took a pass from Taylor Lewis and made good, beating the keeper to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The Tiffin offense kept peppering the Wildcats' goalkeeper with shots, but couldn't add to their lead before the end of the half.

In the 2nd half, Tiffin wasted little time on offense, scoring a goal less than 90 seconds into the final half. It was the foot of Adrianna Currie again that added to Tiffin's lead, scoring the goal unassisted. With the offense doing there part, the Dragons' defense held up their end of the bargain as well. The Wildcats finished the game with seven total shots and the Dragons' Samantha Ortenzi denied all comers, collecting a pair of saves to earn the shutout win.

For Currie, the two goals give her a team high six on the year. The assist for Taylor Lewis was her first of the season. The shutout is the first for Tiffin this season and the third of Samantha Ortenzi's career.

Tiffin will continue their road trip this weekend, taking on Michigan Tech on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
