Thomas More scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute to defeat the Tiffin University women's soccer team (3-11-3, 2-9-2 G-MAC) Saturday evening at Republic Bank Field.
The Dragons faced an uphill battle for the majority of the game as the Saints took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Callie Cacchione nearly tied it in the 40th minute but the shot was saved by the Saints' goalkeeper.
Tiffin trailed 1-0 at half and applied offensive pressure just over 10 minutes into the second half. Tia Nagle's shot hit the right post, and Mackenzie Borden's shot was saved. The third time was the charm, however, as Nagle found Suzy Hayes in the 58th minute to make it 1-1. It was Hayes' first goal of the season.
The 1-1 score held until TMU's Ivy Hoffman connected on the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute. The Dragons had one last attempt to tie as time ran down with a corner kick but couldn't convert.
After the game-tying goal, Tiffin only had one shot attempt the remainder of the game.
Aubree Lee got the start in goal and played 61 minutes recording two saves. Megan Fellows played the final 29 minutes and took the loss in her collegiate debut.
