The Tiffin University women's soccer team (3-10-3, 2-8-2 G-MAC) lost a 3-1 battle to Lake Erie on Wednesday afternoon in what was the Dragons' final home game of the season.
The Storm struck first in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. 11 minutes later in the 27th minute, the Dragons tied it on Sam McPhee's first goal of the season. Leia Rienerth fed a beautiful ball to McPhee who rifled the shot over the goalkeeper's head.
The momentum Tiffin gained on the game-tying goal was quickly erased 39 seconds later when Lake Erie took the lead back 2-1. On the ensuing kickoff after the Dragons tied the game, the Storm had the ball down in their offensive end a cross into the box found Arielle Fink's foot who put into the net past Aubree Lee.
Lake Erie added a third goal in the 52nd minute to make it 3-1. The Dragons unsuccessfully cleared the ball out of their defensive end and the ball landed at the foot of a Storm player who put an uncontested shot into the lower left corner of the net.
The Dragons weren't able to generate many offensive opportunities until late in the second half. In the span of 1:32, the Dragons had four shot attempts and a corner kick but came up empty. Taylor Iden and Callie Cacchione ahd one shot on goal each.
Lake Erie outshot the Dragons 17-10 and had more shots on goal (7-5). Tiffin also only attempted one corner kick while the Storm had five.
Lee took the loss and made three saves in 90 minutes.
