Tiffin University (16-10, 3-3 GLIAC) weathered two storms on Friday, outlasting an hour and 10 minute rain delay before sweeping the Lake Erie Storm 7-6 and 3-1 at Paradiso Fields.
In the opener, the Dragons trailed 4-2 in the 4th inning before finally breaking through to score 5 runs on doubles by Alayna Lytle and Cassandra Brown and singles by Libby Crow and Michelle Poe.
Lake Erie managed to pick up two runs in the 7th inning but starting pitcher Kimmy Reynolds pitched out of a jam with the tying run on second base.
Reynolds picked up the win with 7 innings of work and got big support from Crow, who had 3 hits with a home run for 2 RBI. Poe had 2 hits for 2 RBI, while Amanda Rock also had 2 hits. Brown had a double and RBI, while Lytle also had a double and RBI.
In game two, pitching was the name of the game, as Tiffany Snell went the distance and allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run with 9 strikeouts.
Leading 3-0 in the 7th inning, Snell faced her toughest challenge. The Storm picked up a run and had the tying run at the plate. Snell pitched out of the jam, getting a foul out and a popup to second base to end the game.
Cassandra Brown was big again, smashing a huge home run to center field while also getting a single and RBI. Poe added 2 hits, while Allyson Rock had 2 hits and an RBI.
