The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell 80-50 on Saturday, running into a hot shooting Walsh Cavalier squad.
The Dragons and Cavaliers played an exciting 1st quarter, with the two teams accounting for 40 points. The Dragons surrendered a late three point bucket to trail 23-17 at the end of a quarter. The 2nd quarter saw Walsh motor ahead, outscoring the Dragons 26-12. The three point line was extremely generous to Walsh, going 9 of 13 in the 1st half. The Dragons headed to the locker room trailing 49-29 at the break.
The 2nd half didn't get any better for the Dragons, with Walsh continuing to score at a rapid pace. Tiffin gave it their best shot in the 3rd quarter, but it was Walsh's day. The Dragons were outscored 12-11 in the 3rd, and the Cavaliers added 19 more points in the final quarter to secure a 80-50 win.
The Dragons were led by Bre Nauman with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Jessica Farr and Kaylee Patton both came off the bench to add nine points. Walsh shot 49% from the floor, and held the Dragons to 29% shooting.
The loss drops Tiffin to 5-12 overall and 3-9 in GLIAC play. The Dragons will be back in action next Thursday night, hitting the road to take on the Lake Erie Storm.
