The Tiffin University men's basketball team fell to the University of Findlay 70-60, despite having an advantage in most statistical categories. The one area where Tiffin scuffled was from beyond the arc, shooting 1-11 from three, while the Oilers made eight long range jumpers.
The 1st half was tough offensively from both parties, with the teams combining for 25 points halfway through the 1st half. Findlay took its largest lead of the half at the 3:52 mark at 23-17, but Tiffin caught a heater and rode it for 10 straight points and led 27-23 at the break.
At the intermission, the Dragons were shooting 42% from the floor, 1-7 from three, and never made it to the free throw line. On the other side of the court, Findlay wasn't much better, shooting at a 37% clip, 2-11 from deep, and 1-4 at the charity stripe. Chrisean Marsden and Alex Brown led the charge for the Dragons with eight points each, and Marsden snagged seven 1st half boards.
In the 2nd half, Tiffin held on to their lead for the first five minutes of the half, but the Oilers laid in waiting, and at the 15:17 mark tied the contest at 39-39. A bucket from Alex Brown regained the Dragon advantage, but Findlay wasn't done. The Oilers grabbed the lead with 11:17 remaining in the game, and never looked back as they cruised to a 70-60 victory.
The Dragons shot 44% for the game, but hit only 1 of 11 three point shots, and went 7-13 from the free throw line. The 60 point output was the third lowest of the season. Chrisean Marsden continued his excellent play in the post, racking up a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Brown was the only other Dragon in double figures, scoring 12 points and grabbing five boards.
The loss drops the Dragons to 7-10 overall and 3-7 in GLIAC play.
