The Tiffin University women's soccer team played the #10 ranked team in the nation on Friday night, and surrendered only one goal in the 1st half, but the Grand Valley State Lakers put three on the board in the 2nd half.
In the 1st half, the Dragon defense bent, and broke once. Grand Valley cracked the scoreboard in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Grand Valley sent a barrage of shots at the Tiffin keeper, Samantha Ortenzi. In total, GVSU shot the ball 20 times in the half. Meanwhile, the Dragon offense struggled to get anything going. Tiffin only managed one shot in the half, and that was the only shot they would take for the whole game.
Grand Valley added three more goals in the 2nd half, to make the score 4-0. For the game GVSU took 39 shots with 19 on goal. The lone Dragon shot came from Taylor Lewis, and it was on goal.
Samantha Ortenzi takes the loss in goal, facing 19 shots, saving 15. Grand Valley held a commanding lead in all offensive categories, including a 21-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The loss drops TU to 2-4-1 overall and 0-3 in the GLIAC.
