Box Score $website.include("options")

The Tiffin University men's basketball team fell on Saturday evening to the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals by the final count of 87-73. The Dragons held SVSU in check in the 1st half, but the Cardinals came to life in the 2nd half.

The 1st half saw the Dragons shoot 43% from the field and play stout defense, holding the Cardinals to 34.5% shooting from the field. One area where the Dragons did struggle was beyond the arc, going 0 for 7 in the 1st half. Despite their long range ineffectiveness, Tiffin took a 34-32 lead to the intermission.

Chrisean Marsden led the way for the Dragons with 11 points, and Tony Kynard added 7 points. The Dragon defense forced eight 1st half turnovers, with four being via the steal.

As the 2nd half started, the Cardinals must have understood the locker room message, as they sprinted ahead of Tiffin with a 7-0 run. The Cardinal lead continued to swell throughout the half, reaching 17 at its highest point. The combination of a hot Cardinal offense, which shot 51% from the field in the 2nd half, and their efficiency from the free throw line, shooting 24 of 30, didn't help the Dragons' cause.

The Dragon offense didn't struggle in the 2nd half. In fact, they improved. TU shot five percentage points better in the 2nd half, despite being out scored 55-39 in the half. Tiffin was led by Tony Kynard with 27 points, Chrisean Marsden added 15 points, and Alex Brown score 11.

The loss drops Tiffin to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC.
