The Tiffin University Dragon women's basketball team fell to Northwood in a physical contest, 77-66. The Timberwolves took advantage of 16 Dragon turnovers to score 19 of their 77 points.
Half number one saw the Dragons shoot 51.7% from the field, 50% from three, and were 1-1 from the free throw stripe. The Dragons struggled to hold onto the basketball as 13 of their 16 turnovers came in half number one. The Dragons were strong on the boards as a team, leading in rebounding at the half 21-12. In the second half the Dragons struggled to put the ball in the basket early on. At one point in the second half, the Dragons were out scored 23-11. Tiffin trailed by as much as 23, but did not give up. An 11-2 run late in the game cut the Timberwolf lead to 9. The Dragons were led in scoring by Kaylee Patton with 14 points, but only 2 of those points came in the second half. Anya Misko also pitched in 14 points and 8 boards.Deidre McKay finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The Timberwolves took advantage of the Dragon turnovers in the first half to lead 38-33. The second half saw Northwood step on the gas pedal and go, as the Timberwolves scored 44 of their 77 points inside the paint. These point blank shots led to Northwood shooting 62.5% from the field in the second half. Maddy Seeley led all scorers with 18 points off the bench. Northwood had five players in double figures and held a 34-12 advantage in bench points.
The Dragons will back on the hardwood Saturday as they take on the Lake Superior State Lakers at 1 pm.
