Michigan Tech came to Tiffin Sunday on the first weekend of the new year to face the Dragons. After 40 minutes of basketball the Huskies loaded the bus and headed north with a 64-50 victory.
Tiffin controlled the game in the early going and built a 3 point lead with 11:26 remaining in the half. Tech responded and from that point on outscored the Dragons by 8-5 advantage into the break. MTU's leading scorer Ben Stelzer struggled most of the first half but was able to nail a 3 pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer to extend the Tech lead.
The second half was very similar to the first half. The Huskies scored 32 points in the first half and the second. The Dragons scored 4 less points in the second half. When the final score was tallied the Dragons came up 14 points short. Both teams took good care of the ball throughout the game. Tech committed 8 turnovers to the Dragons' 10. Rebounding was just as similar. The Huskies out rebounded Tiffin by 34-33. Khaleal McCormick led Tiffin in scoring with 22 points. Ashton Khan added 13 for the Dragons. Chrisean Marsden led Tiffin in rebounding with 6, but did not score in the game.
