Tiffin University Women's Soccer kicked off their season today as part of the Dragon Tournament. Weather was the biggest factor in the contest as both TU and Bellarmine University had to endure an almost 2 hour weather delay. The delay did not affect Bellarmine's offense as they exploded for 6 goals and finished off the Dragons 6-2.

Emorie Milford got the Dragons on the scoreboard first at the 10:02 mark of the first half with a rebound put back off of her own penalty kick. The Dragons put continuous pressure on the Knights in the first half but did not crack the scoreboard as often as they would have liked.

Bellarmine scored three consecutive goals after Milford got the Dragons on the board. Katie Fernandez scored twice at the 19:12 and 26:43 marks of the first half. Fernandez sandwiched her goals around Lauren Holder's goal at 25:35 of the first half. Milford added her second goal for the Dragons at 33:50 of the first half and the half ended with Bellarmine leading 3-2.

Halftime brought a break from the heat for the players, but also brought the delay. Bellarmine did not seem to notice. The Knights kept the pressure on the Dragons in the second half and controlled the ball for the majority of the time. Maura Gorman began the second half scoring with a goal at 52:50 of the second half. Gorman's goal was followed by Morgan Greer's goal at 81:42 and Abby Janszen's goal at 86:12 to complete the scoring. The Dragons fall to 0-1 while the Knights improve to 1-1.

In the first contest of The Dragon Tournament, Saginaw Valley State defeated the University of Indianapolis 2-0. The Dragons are back in action Sunday against the University of Indianapolis with a scheduled start of 2:30 pm. The game can be heard on WTUD, tudragonradio.com.
