Tiffin University (16-11, 5-5 GLIAC) got a big game-winning home run from Kristin Robinson, handing Ohio Dominican their first GLIAC loss of the season in a 4-3 victory in the second game of a twinbill played at ODU. TU dropped the opener 9-1 in five innings.
In the win, Madison Yanek got the win, throwing 7 innings and allowing 3 earned runs. TU trailed 2-0 in the 4th inning but the Dragons came back to tally 3 runs in the bottom of the inning.
After ODU tied the game at 3-3, Robinson led off with her blast to give TU the lead 4-3. The Panthers got a runner in scoring position in the top of the 7th inning, but TU's Jena King threw out the runner at third base from center field after a single up the middle for the second out of the iinning. A fielder's choice putout at second base ended the game for the Dragons.
Taylor Spang had 2 hits, while Kelsey Yaratch had a double and RBI. Yanek helped her own cause with a single driving in 2 runs.
In the opener, Spang struggled on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing 9 earned runs with 4 walks and 5 wild pitches. The Panthers led 4-0 after two innings and put the game away with 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Robinson had 2 hits, while Yaratch also had 2 hits with a double and RBI.
