Logan Sendelbach opened the doubleheader with Malone with a gem, winning 1-0 before Tiffin University (8-20, 7-4 GLIAC) came from behind in the nightcap to post a 6-4 victory.
Sendelbach went the distance and allowed just 4 hits in the shutout win, fanning 6 along the way. The Dragons got the gamewinning run in the 6th inning. After a Kyle Lento double and Cody Spires single, Lento scored from third on an error by the third baseman.The Pioneers got runners into scoring position in both the 6th and 7th innings, but Sendelbach pitched out of it both times.
Garrett Vernau had 2 hits with a double while Alex Hartley also had 2 hits. Lento had the only other extra base hit with his double.
In the nightcap, TU came back from a 4-0 deficit in the 4th inning, scoring 6 runs in the frame to take the lead. The Dragons, who totaled 9 hits in the game, got 5 of those hits along with 2 walks and an error by Malone to score the 6 runs.
Tyler Nichols picked up the win with 5.1 innings of strong relief. Nichols allowed just 2 hits and no earned runs over his appearance in relief of Kevin Kline, who allowed 3 earned runs over 1.2 innings of work. Nichols twice pitched out of jams over the final four innings with runners in scoring position.
Cole McCurry had 2 hits with an RBI while Vernau added 2 more hits. Isaac Perry doubled and drove in a run, while Hartley, Kyle Durham, and Spires all added RBIs.
