NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Sophomore Garrett Vernau had three hits as the Tiffin University baseball team (4-19, 3-3 GLIAC) lost 5-2 to Walsh (10-15, 2-5 GLIAC), Sunday.
Tiffin drew first blood. In the first inning, Vernau singled and junior Nick Calandra drew a walk. A fly ball moved Vernau to third; he would score on a single from sophomore Kirk Olesick.
Walsh scored in the third to tie the game. In the fifth inning, sophomore Cole McCurry slugged a shot over the left field fence to make it 2-1. The Cavaliers would score four over the next three innings to seal the game.
For Tiffin, senior Kevin Kline (1-3) gave up two hits, two runs and walked four in two innings.
For Walsh, Mike Lee had three hits, two home runs, scored two runs and drove in four runs. Matt Iosue (1-4) gave up six hits, two runs, walked two and struck out five in five innings. Neal Edwards (2) walked one and struck out one in one inning for the save.
