CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Junior Cody Spires had four hits as the Tiffin University baseball team (4-18, 3-2 GLIAC) split with Findlay (4-10, 1-3 GLIAC), Wednesday at VA Memorial Stadium. TU lost the first 2-1 in 10 innings and won the second 7-2.
In the opener, with two outs, sophomore Cole McCurry doubled. Freshman Kirk Olesick singled through the left side to score McCurry.
Findlay would tie the game in the fifth. In the tenth, the Oilers had a runner at second with two outs. UF got a passed ball and a single to score the winning run.
For Tiffin, Spires had two hits. Sophomore Logan Sendelbach (0-6) gave up two hits, one run which was unearned in 2/3rd of an inning. Freshman Patrick Bellinger gave up four hits, one run, walked one and struck out five in five innings. Sophomore Tyler Nichols struck out three in four innings.
For Findlay, Jordan Carcia had two hits. Alex Williams (2-1) struck out one batter in two innings.
In the nightcap, Findlay scored in the first inning. In the fourth inning, junior Nick Calandra doubled with two outs. Freshman Kyle Lento singled to score Calandra and moved to second on the throw.
Sophomore Jordan Widman singled to score Lento. In the sixth, the Dragons sealed the game with four runs.
For Tiffin, Lento had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs and Calandra had two hits and scored two runs. Freshman Dan Sexton (1-2) gave up eight hits, two runs and struck out four in seven innings.
For Findlay, Carcia had three hits. A.J. Cecil (0-1) gave up seven hits, five runs, walked one and struck out one in five innings.
