TOLEDO, Ohio - Sophomore Logan Sendelbach gave up just four hits hits as the Tiffin University baseball team (3-17, 2-1 GLIAC) lost 1-0 to Saginaw Valley State (4-9, 1-2 GLIAC) , Saturday night at Mercy Field.
Sendelbach threw a no-hitter for four innings. In the fifth, Saginaw Valley State walked and then broke up the no-hitter. The Cardinals would score a run in the inning.
In the bottom of the inning, freshman Kyle Durham doubled down the right field line. Freshman Isaac Perry singled; Durham was thrown out at home to end the inning.
In the seventh inning, with two outs, freshman Kyle Lento tripled and Durham was hit by a pitch. SVSU got a strikeout to escape. In the ninth, junior Cody Spires singled. However Saginaw Valley State got the next two batters out to win.
For Tiffin, Durham led the offense with two hits. Sendelbach (0-5) gave up four hits, one run, walked one and struck out seven in seven innings.
For SVSU, Pete Baumgartner (2-0) gave up five hits, walked three and struck out four in eight innings. David Freed gave up one hit in the ninth for his first save of the season.
Tiffin is off until Wednesday, March 26, when they take on Findlay in Chillicothe, Ohio. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
