COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Joe Graessle reached the 2000 point plateau as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (7-12, 3-11 GLIAC) lost 80-68 to Ohio Dominican (5-14, 3-12 GLIAC), Monday night at Alumni Hall.
Tiffin came out of the gates running. A pair of charity tosses by senior Mike Boan made it 13-6 at the 15:41 mark. Ohio Dominican came back with a 17-10 run, tying the game at 23-23 with 9:18 to go.
Sophomore Jonathan Sutherlin slammed the ball home. That gave the Dragons a 25-23 lead, which they did not surrender. TU led for all but one minute in the half.
The second half was a tale of runs. Tiffin pushed their lead to nine, 51-42 with 15:41 to go. Junior Ashton Khan led the way with four points.
The Panthers came back with a 14-3 run. Mark Minch hit a bucket to give ODU a 55-54 lead at the 9:37 mark. With 6:09 to go, Ohio Dominican went on a 16-6 run to effectively end the game.
For Tiffin, Khan had a solid outing with 21 points, three steals and shot 8-of-13 from the floor. Graessle scored 16 points with three steals while sophomore Khaleal McCormick had 14. Graessle now has 2007 points, the second Dragon to score 2000 points in a career.
For Ohio Dominican, Minch had 21 points while Trent Weaver and Brandon Carr scored 15 points each.
