TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Joe Graessle became the all-time leading GLIAC scorer as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (11-15, 7-14 GLIAC) won their third straight game, 79-52 over Ohio Dominican (5-21, 3-19 GLIAC), Thursday night at the Gillmor Center.
For the first 10 minutes, the game was fairly close. Don Kellum hit a jumper to make it 21-15, Tiffin at the 10:33 mark. The Dragons closed the half with a 19-7 run to seal the game.
Tiffin shot 47.2% from the floor but the story of the game was defense. The Dragons held Ohio Dominican to just 30.5% from the floor, 15.8% from behind the arc and out-rebounded them by nine. TU forced 15 turnovers with 10 steals and blocked six shots.
For Tiffin, Graessle had 24 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. He has now scored 1559 career points in GLIAC play, breaking the old record of 1549 by Justin Keenan (Ferris State). Sophomore Khaleal McCormick had 17 points and senior Mike Boan scored 13 points with three steals.
For Ohio Dominican, Kellum had 12 points and Trent Weaver had eight points and 14 rebounds.
