Tiffin University's women's basketball team recently completed their fundraising efforts in connection with two area causes - Team Jacoby Hope and Play 4Kay. The various fundraising efforts combined to raise $5600 and included money raised from the Dragons' annual Free Throw-a-thon and other game-related initiatives.

All monies raised from these events will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and Team Jacoby Hope. The Tiffin University Women's Basketball team has teamed with Play4Kay, an initiative started by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, to help raise money for the fight against breast cancer.

Before passing away due to the deadly disease on January 24, 2009, Kay Yow was the head coach of North Carolina State women's basketball team. During her tenure, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she fought courageously for 22 years. Through her fight she created her cancer fund, whose goal is to raise $5 million dollars for breast cancer research. So far, the Play 4Kay initiative has helped raise $1.7 million going towards reaching that goal.

Team Jacoby Hope raises funds to help the child of Kevin and Jill Arnold. Twins Jenna and Jacoby were born June 1. Since then, Jacoby has remained in the hospital due to complications.

The two girls are daughters of Tiffin University alumni Kevin and Jill Arnold. Kevin is a 2010 graduate with a master's degree in business administration, and Jill is a 2002 graduate with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She played basketball and served as the assistant women's basketball coach from 2002-05.

Jacoby was diagnosed with non-immune hydrops fetalis, which is a life-threatening condition in which abnormal amounts of fluid build up in two or more parts in the body of a fetus or newborn.
