The final home weekend of the 2014 season is here and the Tiffin Women's Soccer team battled to the very last minute before falling to Northwood today, 2-1. Only 1 more home game awaits the Dragons as they play out the final 3 matches of the season.

Northwood was the aggressor in the first half. The Timberwolves outshot Tiffin 7-6 in the first half and had the only goal of the first 45:00. Kayla Trevino scored an unassisted goal when she found the left side of the net to get the shot by Samantha Ortenzi at 15:03. Trevino's goal was the lone goal of the first half. Northwood also had more fouls than the Dragons in the first half, 8-5, but Tiffin would even that out in the second half.

Tiffin came out much more aggressive in the second half and it showed on the scoreboard. Veronica Zaciek scored off the rebound of Taylor Lewis's shot to tie the match 1-1 at 70:07. The Dragons' aggressiveness was evident in the doubling of fouls called on Tiffin over Northwood, 10-5. The game remained tied and appeared to be heading to extra time when Jessica Flores scored off the corner kick by Melissa Seymour to give the Timberwolves the lead for good at 88:42. Northwood outshot the Dragons 14-13 for the game with Ortenzi finishing with 6 saves.

Tiffin falls to 2-10-1, 1-8 GLIAC while Northwood improves to 2-13, 1-8 GLIAC. The Dragons will be back in action for their final home contest Sunday at 1 pm when they host Lake Erie. Live video and audio can be found here.
