Tiffin Women's Soccer traveled to Ashland Friday for a tough GLIAC road contest. After one half of play the contest was scoreless. But an early second half goal by the Eagles was enough to carry them to victory in front of the home town crowd.
The Dragons were unable to find the back of the net in the first half but were able to get 7 shots on goal. They evened the shot total with penalty totals of 7. Ashland managed 12 shots on goal but only 3 penalties. Samantha Ortenzi had 3 saves for the Dragons in the scoreless first half.
Ashland broke the scoreless deadlock with an early second half goal at 48:08, Morgan Bittengle redirected a cross from Krista Lewis from 10 yards out for the first goal of the game. That was all the Eagles would need as the Dragons were only able to get 1 shot on goal in the second half while Ashland peppered Ortenzi with 15. Tiffin was outshot 27-8 and the Eagles also had the advantage in corner kicks 9-0.
Tiffin falls to 2-9, 1-4 GLIAC. Ashland improves to 6-4, 3-3 GLIAC. The Dragons will be back in action Sunday, October 12 when they travel to Ohio Dominican for a 1:00 PM start.
