Tiffin University (11-15, 5-3 GLIAC) got a split at Wayne State, winning the opener 3-0 behind a gem by Amber Young but making costly errors in game two in falling 4-1.
In the opener, Young improved to 4-2, allowing just 5 hits and fanning 4 in the shutout over 7 innings. TU got runs in the third inning, loading the bases before Caitlin Houk was hit by a pitch and Madison Yanek hit a sacrifice fly to put TU up 2-0.
In the fifth inning, Houk got another RBI with a two-out single to plate TU's third run. Overall, TU had 4 hits.
In the nightcap, four TU errors led to 4 unearned runs, as Yanek took the loss despite allowing only 3 hits and no earned runs over 3.2. innings. The Dragons still had a shot in the seventh inning, scoring two runs and putting the tying run at second with two outs but could not get her home.
Houk had four hits with a double for 2 RBI, while Kasie Sepeda drilled a home run and a single. Kristin Prokopakis had 2 hits, while Payton Denman added a double.
