Tiffin University (20-24, 13-11 GLIAC) nearly got a sweep of Ashland University on the road but fell 5-4 in 10 innings on a walkoff single to drop game one before winning game two 5-4.
In the opener, Amber Young had a gutsy effort, tossing 9.2 innings and allowing only one earned run while fanning 7 in taking the loss. In the 10th inning, the Dragons had the bases loaded with no outs but managed just one unearned run to take a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the 10th.
Ashland managed to get runners on second and third with two outs before Young allowed a single that plated the winning runs for the Eagles.
Brianna Gamm had 3 hits with an RBI while Caitlin Houk also had 3 hits with a double and RBI. Kristin Robinson added a double.
In game two, Kelsey Yaratch got the victory with 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just one earned run. Sarah Brown started the game, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing 3 earned runs.
The Dragons opened with a run in the first inning and added 4 more in the second. They then held off the Eagles throughout the game. In the 6th inning, Ashland had runners on second and third with two outs but the Dragons threw out a runner at home to preserve the lead.
In the 7th inning with a runner on third, Amber Young came in to strike out the final batter for the save.
Houk continued her strong day with 2 more hits for 3 RBI while Kristin Prokopakis also had 2 hits with an RBI.
