TIFFIN, Ohio - Freshman Kristen Prokopakis had three hits and stole two bases as the Tiffin University softball team (14-18, 8-6 GLIAC) lost 5-1 and 2-1 to Ohio Dominican (18-20-1, 13-3 GLIAC), Wednesday afternoon at Paradiso Fields.
In game one, Ohio Dominican scored three runs in the first inning. In the fifth inning, freshman Cassie Brown singled to score Prokopakis and break up the shutout.
For Tiffin, sophomore Payton Denman had two hits. Senior Amber Young (7-3) gave up nine hits, five runs, four earned, walked three and struck out five in seven innings.
For Ohio Dominican, Kelsey Albanese and Deven Audette had two hits each while Prokopakis stole two bases. Rachael Stanzel (12-11) gave up seven hits, one run and struck out two in seven innings.
In the night cap, the Panthers scored a run in the second and third innings to lead 2-0. In the sixth inning, with freshman Jena King on first, senior Lesy Herbert singled. ODU tried to throw King out at third but the throw went wild, allowing her to score. In the seventh, Ohio Dominican got the Dragons to go 1-2-3 for the win.
For Tiffin, freshman Sarah Brown (4-4) gave up six hits, two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out seven in six innings.
For Ohio Dominican, Liz Weber had two hits. Brandis Fishel (6-9) gave up five hits, one run which was unearned and walked one in seven innings.
