Tiffin University (8-9, 2-0 GLIAC) got the job done at the plate against the University of Findlay, coming back to win 7-6 in a walkoff conclusion to game one and then pounding out 15 hits in a 20-5 romp to complete the sweep.
In the opener, Greg Sombati got the win with 1.2 innings of relief. Brent Faber started and went 3.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs. Mike Cooperider came in next, tossing 1.2 innings and allowing 2 earned runs.
Trailing 3-1, the Dragons came back with two two-run innings to take a 5-3 lead in the 3rd inning. Findlay came back to score 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning but the Dragons responded with a lone run in the bottom of the frame to tie the score heading to the 7th inning.
In the bottom of the 7th, Nick Hueneberg came to the plate with runners on first and second and two out. He responded with a clutch single that gave TU the victory.
Hueneberg had 4 hits while Jordan Stum had 3 hits for 2 RBI. Nick Calandra also had 2 RBI while Cole McCurry also had a double.
TU had little trouble getting the offense running in game two, plating 10 runs in the first inning to effectively end the game after one frame. TU scored runs in every inning they batted. Logan Sendelbach got the win, tossing the first 4 innings and allowing 3 earned runs.
Collin Sallee had 2 hits with a home run for 5 RBI, while Stum had 2 more hits for 3 RBI. McCurry and Ryan Locke had 2 hits with doubles while Ryan Williams also had 2 hits. Hueneberg and Brock Mitchell had doubles.
