Tiffin University (3-4) came up with two late runs to clip Kentucky Wesleyan 2-1 in 8 innings at the Southern Indiana Tournament.
The Dragons got a stellar pitching performance from Kelsey Yaratch (1-0), who went the distance and allowed just 2 singles and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts. The Dragons, however, were held to just 5 singles, with Madison Yanek collecting 2 of them.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 7th, Caitlin Houk had a sacrifice fly that tied the game and sent it to extra innings. In the 8th inning, Katie Toomey came through with an RBI single that put Tiffin ahead 2-1.
In the bottom of the frame, KWC had runners on second and third with no one out, but the Dragons escaped after throwing a runner out at home on a fielder's choice, getting the next batter to pop out, and then making an unassisted tag at second base to end the game.
