With 4:14 to play in the second half, it didn't look good.
Tiffin University (11-12, 8-11 GLIAC) had just watched a 7-point lead disappear behind a Walsh 17-4 run and suddenly trailed 48-42 with all the momentum appearing to be in the Cavaliers' corner.
But TU bounced back on a 9-3 run to close the half, highlighted by Stephanie Kelly's three-pointer as time expired to tie the game at 51-51 and send the game to overtime. The Dragons went on to win 65-60 in a hardfought battle.
Tiffin, which had shot just 25 percent in the second half in nearly losing the game, bounced back in the overtime period, shooting 42 percent while holding Walsh to just 15 percent from the floor. Kelly continued her clutch play, scoring 6 of TU's 14 OT points, including going 8 of 10 from the line in the game. She ultimately led TU with 16 points and 4 assists in the game.
TU also controlled the middle, outscoring Walsh in the paint 28-14 and outrebounding them 51-45. Jessica Harris had 7 points and 12 rebounds, while Melissa Gilliland had 12 points with 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Jillian Adams added 11 points with 5 rebounds. Erica Mathis also had a strong game off the bench with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Dragons held a 30-21 halftime lead before struggling in the second half. The Dragons hit 21 of 30 free throws while the Cavaliers hit only 20 of 35 shots.
