Tiffin University (8-8, 5-7 GLIAC) held the halftime lead 32-28 but could not overcome poor field goal shooting over the full 40 minutes, falling 71-65 at Walsh in a game that saw 8 ties and 14 lead changes.
The Dragons were outshot for the game 45 percent to 34 percent, including a 22-8 disadvantage in the paint. Walsh used their superior shooting to streak past Tiffin 43-33 after the halftime break.
Tied at 52-52 with 8:45 left, Walsh put together a 13-4 run that put them up 65-56 with just 1:40 to play. But Jordan Fraley stepped up and scored 7 of her 23 points in less than a minute to pull the Dragons to within 3 points. Walsh did not fluster, though, sinking 6 of 8 free throws to put the game away.
Fraley's 23 points led the team while Steph Kelly had another solid game with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Melissa Gilliland and Jillian Adams had 8 points apiece. Jessica Harris led the Dragons with 9 rebounds, becoming just the third Dragons player - male or female - to grab 900 career rebounds. Erica Mathis also had 7 rebounds off the bench.
