TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Eric Klepper threw a nine inning complete game and senior Pat Curtin collected his 200th career hit as the Tiffin University baseball team (11-18, 6-10 GLIAC) split a doubleheader with Lake Erie (13-14, 9-5 GLIAC) Saturday afternoon at Heminger Field. TU won the opener 2-1 in nine innings while LEC took the nightcap 1-0.
In game one, the game was scoreless entering the bottom of the fourth. Curtin was hit by a pitch. Following an out, Curtin moved to second on an illegal pitch and stole third. Lake Erie then threw a pitch that hit the ground and bounced off the catcher's glove and over the backstop. That allowed Curtin to score.
In the sixth inning, the Storm mounted a rally with two outs. Pat Kilway singled and was replaced by pinch runner Zach Mosbarger. Jae Leeworthy hit a pop fly that was dropped after a collision. When the smoke cleared, Mosbarger was at third and Leeworthy at second. Aaron Lindgren singled up the middle to score Mosbarger and Curtin made a strike to get Leeworthy at the plate.
In the ninth inning, with one out, freshman Nick Calandra reached on a fielder's choice and was replaced by freshman Derek Koch. Junior Ryan Williams singled to right field to move Koch to second. Junior Kyle Robinson singled up the middle and Koch scored to end the game.
For Tiffin, Robinson went two-for-three. Klepper (2-2) went the distance giving up six hits, one run which was unearned, walked two and struck out eight.

In the night cap, LEC threatened in the fourth inning. Kilway singled, Lindgren walked and Nick Lovick singled to load the bases with no outs. Senior Jordan Chiero made an amazing play to knock down a line drive, and then threw Kilway out at home.
Senior Jordan Liette made a great grab on a grounder to get Lindgren out at the plate. Reid Rizzo singled to left field to push Lovick across the plate. Williams threw a bullet to home to get the runner from second out to minimize the damage. Tiffin had a runner on base in each of the last three innings but was unable to get a run.
