Tiffin University (25-22, 16-14 GLIAC) held a 3-1 lead with one out in the seventh inning but could not hold on as Ashland scored three runs to win 4-3 in the opener at Ashland. The Eagles then swept the twinbill by taking game two 7-0.
In the opener, TU looked solid for most of the game, as Meagan Baird drilled two home runs and Amanda Temple added another roundtripper while Stephanie Bobotas and Payton Denman had doubles as TU jumped out to a 3-1 lead.
But Amber Young could not close it out in the final inning, as Ashland drilled a two-run home run with one out to tie the game and then added a two-out single to drive home the winning run. Young fanned 10 over 6.2 innings but also walked 7.
In the second game, Abbey Cooksey took the loss, allowing 4 earned runs over 5 innings. TU managed just 5 hits. Jessie Creakbaum had the lone extra base hit with a double.
TU trailed just 1-0 in the fifth inning but Ashland broke out for six runs over the final three innings.
