Box Score 1 $website.include("options")

Tiffin University's softball team managed a split at Saginaw Valley State, bouncing back from a 7-3 loss in game one with a narrow 1-0 victory in game two.

The difference in the nightcap proved to be the two-hit mound gem tossed by Amber Young, who went 7 innings for the complete game shutout. Young benefited from a fourth-inning home run by Meagan Baird and made the lone run stand up.

Caitlin Houk and Jessie Creakbaum also had doubles for TU.

In the opener, TU held a 3-0 lead in the third inning but could not make preserve it as the Cardinals scored three times in the bottom of the third and then added four runs in the fifth to go ahead for good.

Abbey Cooksey took the loss over 6 innings, allowing 7 earned runs on 8 hits. Stephanie Bobotas had 2 hits while Creakbaum had another double. Amanda Temple also drove in all three runs for TU with her lone hit.
