COLUMBUS, Ohio - Junior Ryan Williams drove in four runs as the Tiffin University baseball team (7-10, 2-2 GLIAC) dropped two to Ohio Dominican (10-7, 2-2 GLIAC) 5-4 and 9-5, Sunday afternoon at Panther Valley.
In game one, Ohio Dominican staked out a 3-1 lead after three innings. In the fourth inning, junior Jordan Stum singled and moved to second when the Panthers misplayed a grounder by senior Val Helldobler. Williams singled through the left side to score Stum.
ODU scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to lead 5-2. In the sixth, junior Ryan Locke doubled and scored on a single by Williams. In the seventh inning, junior Kyle Robinson singled and moved to third on a single by junior Roger Christensen.
Senior Jordan Chiero grounded out, however it pushed Robinson across the plate. That made it 5-4, Ohio Dominican. The Panthers got a strikeout to preserve the win.
For Tiffin, Williams was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs while Stum had two hits. Senior Pat Curtin (1-1) gave up seven hits, five runs, four of them earned, walked one and struck out four in four innings.
For Ohio Dominican, Anthony Raschilla was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and Tyler Zaidel had two hits. Cole Carpenter (1-0) gave up seven hits, three runs, two of them earned, walked one and struck out one in 5.2 innings. Erik Lamka (3) gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out two in one inning of work.
In the nightcap, ODU scored five runs in the first inning to effectively take control of the game.
For Tiffin, Christensen, Helldobler and junior KC Weber had two hits each. Junior Chris Pistorio (1-1) gave up six hits, five runs, all earned and walked one in two innings.
For Ohio Dominican, John Bowron was 3-for-4 and scored three runs and Austin Butler had two hits and drove in two runs. Nick Venditti (2-1) gave up seven hits, two runs, both earned and struck out two batters in six innings.
Tiffin remains on the road, Wednesday, March 28 taking on Ashland. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
