A pair of low-scoring pitchers duels went against the Dragons, as Ferris State beat Tiffin (10-11, 1-3 GLIAC) 3-1 and 1-0 in 9 innings at Paradiso fields.
In the opener, Abbey Cooksey took the loss, allowing a solo shot to the Bulldogs in the fourth inning and then 2 unearned runs in the fifth inning after a two-out error allowed two runs to cross the plate.
Tiffin got a run back in the bottom of the sixth but could not get any more as they stranded 6 baserunners. The Dragons managed just 6 singles in the game.
The nightcap was even more frustrating, as Amber Young threw another gem over 8.1 innings of work and 135 pitches before finally succumbing with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning in a 1-0 loss.
The Dragons managed 10 hits in the game but left 8 on base. Emily Shaw went 4-for-4 while Chelsea Von Driska had 2 hits and Payton Denman had a double, but the Dragons could not come through with a timely hit, leaving runners in scoring position in the third, fifth, sixth, eighth, and ninth innings.
