TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Danielle McQuade had 15 kills as the Tiffin University volleyball team (5-9, 1-7 GLIAC) picked up its first conference victory, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) over Lake Superior State (4-12, 1-7 GLIAC), Friday night at the Gillmor Center.
In the opening set, Tiffin scored the first four points and stormed to a 10-5 lead. Lake Superior State put on a 7-4 run. The Lakers forced an error to make it 14-12. The Dragons scored the next four points to end the set.
In the second set, TU took the early 13-11 margin. LSSU got kills from Synde McMullen and Emily Snyder to tie it at 13-13. Tiffin would score four straight points to take control.
In the third set, Lake Superior State was in charge with an early 11-9 lead. McQuade took over with four straight kills and then blocked a Laker spike. That put the Dragons up 14-11. LSSU hung tough closing to 17-14. Once again, a four point run put the match away.
McQuade finished the night hitting .520. Sophomore Tiffany Buchinger had 36 assists. Junior Jordan Jenkins had three aces and 25 digs. It was her fourth straight 20+ dig performance.
For Lake Superior State, Snyder had 10 kills, three aces and 10 digs while Meghan Drobish had 14 digs.
